I loved this book from the beginning to the end!! The author has a beautiful command of language and of love and life and lessons to be learned. I felt love and empathy for Isabella from the moment she walked onto the pages. I was hoping that the story would never end because it was so beautifully written, just like a beautiful song that you could listen to over and over again. Her words are so lyrical .Oprah this should be in your book club, you don't know what your missing.Product details

An enthralling novel with an authentic sense of the stark atmosphere of southern Oklahoma. The mystery that entangles the present with the dark side of the past is skillfully woven, and the characters, particularly Isabella, are drawn with skill and insight. A thoroughly enjoyable, superbly crafted book.
Crimes and internal family conflicts in southern Oklahoma are traced over a century. A young doctor returns to claim her family home in Oklahoma following the deaths of its residents and discovers crimes and dangerous family secrets going back to Indian Territory days. Skillfully told, the author combines her early youth in southern Oklahoma and subsequent work in medical education to create a non-stop thriller. A Winding Sheet also combines descriptive scenes of the picturesque area surround the Red River, dividing Oklahoma and Texas, with secrets that took place there over the period of a century. The characters and dialog belong to southern Oklahoma and author Gardner presents a realism that can only be created by a native. For this reviewer, also a native of the area, it was like going home.
