The REALM has returned to England to claim the titles they left behind. Each man holds to the fleeting dream of finally knowing love and home, but first he must face his old enemy Shaheed Mir, a Baloch warlord, who believes one of the group has stolen a fist-sized emerald. Mir will have the emerald’s return or will exact his bloody revenge.. Aristotle Pennington has groomed SIR CARTER LOWERY as his successor as the Realm’s leader, and Sir Carter has thought of little else for years. He has handcrafted his life, filled it with duties and responsibilities, and eventually, he will choose a marriage of convenience to bolster his career; yet, Lucinda Warren is a temptation he cannot resist. Every time he touches her, he recognizes his mistake because his desire for her is not easily quenched. To complicate matters, it was Mrs. Warren’s father, Colonel Roderick Rightnour, whom Sir Carter replaced at the Battle of Waterloo, an action which had named Sir Carter a national hero and her father a failure as a military strategist. LUCINDA WARREN’s late husband has left her to tend to a child belonging to another woman and has drowned her in multiple scandals. Her only hope to discover the boy’s true parentage and to remove her name from the lips of the ton’s censors is Sir Carter Lowery, a man who causes her body to course with awareness, as if he had etched his name upon her soul. Cruel twists of Fate have thrown them together three times, and Lucinda prays to hold off her cry for completion long enough to deny her heart and to release Sir Carter to his future A future to which she will never belong. “The first fully original series from Austen pastiche author Jeffers is a knockout.” - Publishers Weekly
A Touch of Love Book 6 of the Realm Series edition by Regina Jeffers Romance eBooks
Outstanding book 6 of the Realm Series and I remain capitvated by the depth of characters and the sheer volume of this epic. The strong characters of the English covert operations team, the Realm, is almost without end. Though we know the central characters from books 1-6, new ones continue to pop up in each new book. We meet more peers in the first circles of English nobility who have their fingers in all sorts of devilish things which come to the attention of Pennington and the Realm. We found in book 5, A touch of Grace, that the fearless leader, Pennington, has a love life of his own and there will need to be a new "shepherd" appointed to lead the men of the Realm. The new leader will need to be from within the group, a man respected for his clear thinking and limitless courage. Sir Carter Lowery is the assumed choice, but what if he fails to capture the Persian menace sent by Shareed Mir to find his stolen emerald or what if he becomes involved with an unsuitable woman of lower birth associated with Waterloo. Waterloo is a memory that haunts Sir Carter almost nightly. When he stepped in and saved the battle from the disasterous plan of Colonel Roderick Rightnour ,he encountered a small lad draped over the dead Colonel in the deepest despair. Lowery promised the lad he would come back for him just before he took a bullet in the leg which caused his Realm brothers to extract him from the fight ASAP. The lad followed Lowery and tended to him before the Realm shipped him back to England on the first available transport. His foggy memory of the lad who saved his life the days just after the battle haunted him. Lowery healed and resumed his duties as a member of the Realm in all the activities of books 1-5. He is the strategist of the group and plans every move before taking action. Just the opposite of Brantley Fowler, Duke of Thornhill. The duke becomes acquainted with Colonel Rightnour's daughter, Lucinda (Mrs. Matthew Warren), while fighting with her father at Waterloo. In fact, Brantley used the Warren widow to make his fiance, Velvet Aldridge, jealous in book 2.
Mrs Lucinda Rightnour Warren had followed the drum across Europe with her father and husband. At wars end, Lucinda Warren is eaking out an existence in a seedy part of London on her widows pension and a small inheritance from her grandmother. She was turned away from the Warren estate and her relationship with the Rightnour family was lacking was left lacking with the death of her mother and father. In the midst of all this, a young Jewish boy lands on her doorstep with a note asking her to protect him. She assumes he had to have been connected to her husband since she had become aware that he was still married to a Jewish woman when he married her. With the arrival of Simion, her life takes a turn for the worst. After several attempts on their lives, Lucinda turned to Duke Thronhill for help. He can't assist her without raising the ire of his recent wife, Lady Velvet. He asked Sir Carter Lowery to handle the investigation into the attacks on Mrs Warren and possibly assist her in locating Jewish people in England that could accept the care of the boy. It doesn't take long before the attacks involve Sir Carter's life as well.
As with any of the members of the Realm, the simplest assignments tend to be part of a much bigger investigation that not only involve the Persian warlord's sly henchman, but theft of valuable masterpieces and art from the war torn countries of Europe and a plot to assassinate Prince George of England at one of his parties. The trail of these events covers most of England and all of the members of the Realm at one time or another. The book is filled with amazing intrigue, mystery, action and love interwoven with the lives of the "band of brother" of the Realm, most of which are married to the loves of their lives and filling their nurseries with children. Mrs. Warren becomes a love interest of Sir Carter, but the road is long and very hard for both of them. The historical piece about the immigration of Jews from war torn Europe was very interesting.
Regina gives us a HEA, though sometimes it appears to be beyond our imagination. These books will keep you reading into the night and bring a smile on your face at the end. I highly recommend starting with book 1, A Touch of Scandal, the story of the return of Brantley Thornhill to assume his family title of duke at the death of his father. Each book deals with the emotional scars and the loves of one if the members of the Realm..
Thank you Regina for this wonderful saga.

A Touch of Love Book 6 of the Realm Series edition by Regina Jeffers Romance eBooks Reviews
I love this series. Can't wait for the next one… Still my favorite is about Lady Eleanor! Read them all in order. That's the best way...
I very much liked Ms. Jeffers Realm Series. The Realm men have put themselves in dangerous situations and survived. The women are rather in the same fix. How do each find true love?
This is book 6 of the realm series that I read several days ago and have finished the whole series. I am a little late reviewing this novel. It is about a young lady that takes off from her family home where she is living with her brother that mistreats her, heavy drinker, in debt and wants to collect a large dowry from a man much older than her, twice married with children for her to care for them.
Her life takes a great turn in the life of Carter Lowery and she gives him hope. Adventures and episodes happen, Lucifer Hill helps her in many ways as he also does to Carter.
Love concurs and all ends well. I won't go into the plot but the Realm and their wives are always involved in one way or another.
This series is worth the time to read. One of which I highly recommend!
I have been utterly swept off my feet by this series. With the exception of the second book, A Touch of Velvet, each instalment has had me incapable of putting it down.
Ms Jeffers combines detailed historical knowledge -as evidenced by her casual insertion of time markers such as clothes, customs and clothes - with an engaging cast of characters. Each and every one of the gentlemen who once fought together as a unit in The Realm (a precursor to MI6, one gathers) are people who grab at your heart. Upright, honourable and daring, these men risk everything for the sake of their countries and their loved ones, and it is with crossed fingers that I read of their adventures - and those of their ladies.
A romance would not be a romance without complications separating the earnest admirer and his intended. Repeatedly in this series impediments arise, repeatedly I am left holding my breath as I struggle with the temptation to peek at the end. I must admit to having done so on a number of occasions, but this has in no way detracted from my reading experience, because Ms Jeffers does not deliver the same story twice - the obstacles are very varied and at times quite unsurmountable.
Ms Jeffers writes in multiple POV's allowing us insight into both the gentlemen's and their ladies' heads. I am particularly impressed by Ms Jeffers male POV's, all of them distinct, all of them loveable in their own way - an adjective which I fear would have the gentlemen in question shuddering. As to the ladies, a number of them stick out and I have developed a permanent fondness for the Nelson sisters and Isolde Neville as well as Eleanor Fowler. But the Aldrige sisters... well. I leave it up to future readers to form their own opinion in the matter.
Ms Jeffers writes a fast story. Her prose and dialogue never lose pace. I stumble across a number of minor editing issues, at times there's a word missing or a comma, but it is all forgiven by the fact that I am so totally immersed in the story itself.
While more than happy to know there will be an eight book in the series, I am already feeling somewhat bereaved what will I do without the gentlemen of The Realm to keep me company?
